The Government Services Department provides financial and administrative support services to other departments and Chief and Council.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Housing
Applications for housing are submitted to this department and forwarded to Chief and Council by the Executive Assistant. It is the responsibility of this department to ensure that citizens are fully aware of the application process and understand the policies in place. PLEASE NOTE THAT HOUSING ALLOCATIONS ARE DONE ONLY BY THE SELKIRK FIRST NATION CHIEF AND COUNCIL.

Employment Services
When a citizen is applying for employment with the first nation, the applications go to the Personnel Officer or to the department director. Postings for employment are updated regularly and are available for viewing in the Administration Building or on the Employment section of this website. The department is also responsible for all human resource matters of the SFN staff.
Human Resource Services
This relates to all SFN staff (full time, part time, seasonal, contract, etc.) It is the responsibility of the department to ensure all staff is aware of all SFN policies pertaining to their employment and obligations.
SFN Website
This website was created to bridge the gap between our government and the citizens residing both in the community and throughout Canada. Through a contracted individual, the website is maintained on a regular basis.
Coordination of Chief and Council Meetings
As Chief and Council attend regular meetings both in the community and other various locations, their schedule and meetings are coordinated through the department. Minutes are taken during each meeting and filed in the Executive Director’s Office.
Computer and Office Equipment Technology Services
The Computer Technician is responsible for maintaining all office technology and equipment as well as keeping systems up to date.
SFN Dog Control Program
Through volunteers and assistance from the department, a Community Dog Watch program was implemented in February 2009. It was developed to address the on-going stray dog problem.
Event Donations (Funerals, Grads, Potlatches, etc.)
Citizens/Organizations can apply for donations for an event for a maximum of $500.00. Please inquire with the Executive Assistant for more information.
